Prescott Valley Old Town Board of Directors Timeline
First meeting was in Sept. 8th 2006
Our goal for 2006 was to educate ourselves and to create a common vision.
Guest Speakers included personell from:
Town of Prescott Valley: Parkway program and Community Facilities District
State Historic Preservation Office
Arizona Dept of Commerce: Mainstreet Programs
Introduced project to merchants and property owners.
And then we worked closely with merchants and property owners to create a vision for Old Town.
2007
Our goal for 2007 was to gain support for the Old Town project by working closely with
the merchants, property owners, the town officials and the local media.
Worked with news media to communicate vision of Old Town to the public
First Editiorial of support appeared in the paper on Jan 12th.
Lonesome Valley Merchants Association was formed in March
The Courier polled the public about attractions in Old Town in May
Dunn Edwards pledge all of the paint needed for the Old Town Mall in May.
Merchants and Old Town members participated in the PV Clean-up Days in May
Work with Town of Prescott Valley to win approval for creation of an Old Town
Park; won approval in June
Worked with Landscape Architect for design of the new Old Town Park
Created an Old Town Float and participated in PV Days in June
Merchants approved the by-laws for the Lonesome Valley Mercants Association
in August
Held the 1st Annual Old Town Street Fair attracting more than 2000 visitors in
October
APS pledged to donate all of the trees for the Old Town Park in October.
Held the 1st Annual Old Town Window Decorating Contest in December
2008
Our goal for 2008 is to create a brand for Old Town and promote Old Town through
aggressive marketing.
We completed by-laws creating an Old Town Board of Directors Jan 11, 2008.
We have money in the bank, not much, but there is money.
In January we completed our work with the merchants to create a Calendar of
Events for 2008.
We will have our 501(c)(3) by June.
At a meeting with town officials and Old Town Board members on Jan 29th, the Town
put together a plan for Old Town Street Signs.
We will install building signs with historic information Feb 5th.
We will provide brochures for ‘walking tours’ by mid-March.
We will continue to promote the Old Town with the Events Calendar.
We will continue to work with the property owners to improve their properties.
We will continue to raise funds for grants to help property owners restore their
properties.
We will provide the property owners information needed to help them attract and
retain tenants.
We will work to provide Old Town with common signage,
